There always is a prize to pay..

Talking lately to a friend of mine we hit on single motherhood. My friend, having access to the really well-heeled community of this city, introduced me to the concept of hidden single motherhood. She said most couples with a very well earning hubby end up living more or less separate lives. The husband hardly sees his kids during the week either due to working late or being on business trips, even weekends he may not make it home, all resulting in a wife being alone with the kids almost all the time. Apart from the financial security and lots of plastic cash to fulfill her every wish, i can't see a lot of advantage to this lifestyle. Unfortunately i see marriage as a partnership and not only a mans responsibility to provide financially for his loved ones and advance on status plus its manyfold symbols. But then.. who asks me?
